Ms. Parker is a graduate of University of California, and holds masters degrees in Horticulture and Library Science. She worked as a professional librarian for eight years, first as Reference Librarian at the Morton Arboretum near Chicago, then managing the technical library for Sunkist Growers at their research center in California.

Ms. Parker then joined Elsevier Science as an Account Manager, and for many years worked with academic and corporate librarians, book and journal vendors, and book stores in the western United States and Western Canada.

At present, Ms. Parker is Licensing Consultant for Academic Press IDEAL in the western United States and Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. She licenses academic and corporate libraries for the Academic Press and Harcourt Health Sciences content on the IDEAL platform, and is actively involved in educating librarians and end-users about the benefits of electronic publishing.

Although this is her first trip to Taiwan, Ms. Parker says she didn't have any trouble finding her way to Asia. Instead of turning left at Hawaii, as she does when going to Australia, she just kept going straight across the Pacific, and is here with us today.
