Hao-Ren Ke is now the Head of the Digital Library & Information Division of Library of National Chiao Tung University (NCTU). His research topics include digital library, database systems, computer graphics, and virtual reality.

He received the B.S. degree in 1989 and his Ph.D. degree in 1993, both in Computer and Information Science, from NCTU. In June 1995, he joined Computer Center at NCTU. Now he is an associate professor in Library.

He has been playing an important role in the sharing of electronic resources in Taiwan. From 1996, as the technical director of the InfoSpring Project of NCTU, he has installed mirror sites of several well-known electronic resources, including databases from CSA, Elsevier, EI, OVID, and ISI.

Starting from September 1998, STIC and NCTU have been co-conducting a two-year project. The first goal of this project is to assist the CONsortium on Core Electronic Resources in Taiwan (CONCERT) to establish shared electronic resources. As the leader of the project, he transfers the skills and experiences obtained in the InfoSpring Project to the Consortium in order to build a research information treasury in Taiwan and strengthen the support for Taiwan's research activities. He seamlessly cooperates with STIC and gives many valuable technical suggestions and helps in surveying and selecting the candidate electronic resources for the Consortium.

He has developed an interlibrary loan system for the whole Taiwan libraries, which is another goal of the aforementioned two-year project. The system has started operating since September 1999, and has expedited the interlibrary loan process in Taiwan significantly.

By using his technical expertise, he devotes himself to helping libraries in Taiwan move toward electronic libraries.
