China’s Technological, Social, and Economic Developments

 Background

From cross-strait relatives’ visits and tourism, and opening new plants and investments, to direct chartered flights, both Taiwan and China have embarked on exchanges in various fronts, leading to an ever closer tie in economy, trade, society, education, and culture. On the other hand, tension in political-economic relationship across the strait has never been eased due to China’s antagonism and coercion by its military and political machine. Occasionally, tension in the Taiwan Strait becomes the international headlines. It is therefore our foremost concern to safeguard Taiwan’s interests and security in dealing with cross-strait exchanges. We must also fully understand China’s technological, political and economic developments and make appropriate assessments and analyses to safeguard Taiwan’s security and promote Taiwan’s welfare. The general public can benefit from the comprehension, which can also serve an important reference for the government in decision-making when dealing with cross-strait exchange.

 Expected Achievements
