Background and Goals |

Diversity is a necessity for technological developments in Taiwan. The capability accumulated over the years in the development of agricultural technology has exalted to international standard and has thus become one of the key niche industries for further development. In view of rapid changes in the global technological developments, Taiwan’s agriculture has to keep innovating itself to remain competitive. Currently, there is no integration of information analysis system for agricultural innovation. Thus, the project is aimed to (1) develop an integrated analysis for agricultural development in the aspects of technology, industry, and politics and economy, and (2) establish the information analysis system as the main thread to provide reference in the strategic planning of technological developments and industrial management for agricultural innovation. | |
Contents and Expected Achievements |

| The present phase of the project takes “Agricultural Biotech” as its main research target. It has been able to develop the first technology road map for integrating the policy of upgrading agriculture, establish the strategic planning method for integrating foresight and literature-reviewing analyses, and complete analysis framework and industrial analysis for agricultural production, transportation, and marketing. The main tasks in 2006 include: (1) assisting government departments to develop methods for agricultural biotech analysis and strategic planning, (2) investigating related issues in agricultural biotech policies, technological developments, and industrial management of other countries, and (3) assisting government departments to establish literature and related data banks for agricultural technology. It is expected that the research results can closely link up bio-technology with agriculture, and thus precipitate the formation mechanism of innovative strategy for Taiwan’s agriculture. | |
